BTW

Check this out, you might have to use google translator if you dont speak Swedish...

Yay

I have a new keyboard to the computer! Now I have to get used to this one instead but it already feels a lot better than the old one and I can once again almost touch type, or whatever it is called. I hope Stephen will be just as happy as I am cause it is an "ergonomic" one with a bit of a curve to it. Ah well, he will just have to get used to it.

I have also bought his christmas presents, and I know what to get mum and dad and I am not sure if Jonas and I will buy something for each other or just the one for mum and dad. So I am pretty much done, and it feels good! I have decided to enjoy Christmas and not get stressed about it. I figured it is up to me if I am going to stress or not. And really, we dont have any kids and not a huge family to buy presents for so what is the stress all about. Christmas should be a time to enjoy life and spend time with loved ones. I think it is all the hype and shops starting to sell Christmas decorations in September that makes people stress about it. All the things that we feel we "have" to do. I am going to what I want to do! Så det så!

And now I am going to finish off the wedding photos for David and Camilla, and then burn another CD with baby photos for Emelie and Donne.

Over a week...

...again. Time is just flying at the moment!

Stephen left for USA this morning and I have decided to buy his christmas presents while he is away, and I might invest in a new keyboard as well because this one is still driving me mental.

On Sunday I went to a friend to take photos of her daughter, when I was there I thought I got some good shots, coming home and looking at them on the computer I realized quite a few of them were blurry, luckily not all and I ended up with some 50 odd shots that I liked. And also some that Emelie liked, I hope she doesnt mind that I upload some of them here (please tell me if you do and I will remove them!). I have also added some of the wedding shots, again of the happy couple are reading this and wants to be removed please tell me!

As always the pictures are backwards, obviously the bride did her hair first and not last... And I just realised when previewing the post that most of my favourite pictures are black and white, I only do a handful of the total "batch" in black and white. Maybe I should bring out my good old analogue camera and load it up with black and white film...

I have discovered that I really like photographing people in their "natural environment". Catching real moments in life. And happy people makes me happy too, it is really nice to be able to look at the pictures and see that the people are happy, maybe they are not picture perfect according to all the "rules" of photography but that doesnt matter as much as the story the picture tells. We all know the world is not perfect. And they are not a perfect match together either, they all have very different style. Not like an album you would get from a professional, and that is something I need to work on but at the moment I am just so happy working with lightroom that I dont care. It is such a joy. I shot the photos of Lova on Sunday morning and at night I was kind of finished with all the editing, thanks to Adobe Lightroom. One might think that I get paid to say that but I dont, I just think it is a great tool that suits my needs perfectly.

Anyway, time to go to bed, alone =( I will miss having Stevie next to me... I hope I can sleep alright. I have had a cold lately and I keep waking up coughing at night which is kind of annoying, I bet Stevie wont miss that when he is away. Hopefully it will be gone by the time he is back.

And lucky for me I have training for three days at work and we dont start until 9am, and we are at a different office than the normal one so there is no point going to work before either. I am getting trained in Business Quality Improvements, to help lift our quality performance to even better levels still. But first I need a bit more sleep =) Alone =(

I have done it!

Not finished the wedding photos, but I have invested in Photoshop lightroom, a really really good software for photoediting. I am impressed! And all of a sudden it is actually kind of fun to edit photos =)

Stephen is playing simpsons on the playstation three at the moment, we bought the game today. We also bought a new point and shoot camera for him to bring to US. He is leaving on the 9th of November and will be going past the Niagara falls on the way back, ticking off another 2 countries on his list, 2 that I dont have =) He is very happy about that, as he is catching up to me soon.

Last night we went to a 30th birthday party in Jönköping, a city roughly 150 kilometres north of here. That was the city I was aiming for before we happened to end up i Älmhult, it is situated beautifully by one of the largest lakes in Sweden and not too big but still not small either. The birthday girl was Nina, who I went to uni with, and who also is a dear friend of mine. Stephen also got to meet Mikkel for the first time, he just turned 1 and is the son of another dear friend of mine. I agree with Stephen that he is a cool kid.

Home alone

Stephen has left for Italy today and I am home alone, I was gonna go to the camera club meeting tonight but I decided to stay at home, the last couple of weeks has been very hectic and I am nowhere near finished with the wedding photos and the kitchen looked like 2nd world war so I thought I'd stay at home tonight on my own and get some things done. And the schedule for tonigths meeting wasnt that thrilling either, indoor shooting of smoke and coloured water, and I dont have a macro lens and really couldnt be bothered packing up tripod and a light source of some sort and try to make it work with any of my non-macro lenses. And I bought a photography magazine that had some tips and tricks on how to make black and white photos in lightroom, the software I am currently using and am even thinking of buying, so I am gonna try that instead.

Maybe I'll post some photos here later on, and maybe I'll post them on my website as well, there is one photo there already... Let me know what you think of it!

Winter view from our outdoor area

Its snowing!

Wow, long time no seen! And in between I have shot a wedding and been to Poland and back. I am working my way through the harvest of photos, lots and lots of them. I hope to soon have around 100 photos from the day, and then all the photos of the guests and from the party on top of that, ready to deliver. And then I will upload some of them, some here and some to my new website that Stephen have started working on, I am a bit excited! But first things first and that is to do a backup of the photos in case the computer crashes or something.

When I arrived back in Älmhult today it was snowing I took some photos of it that I will share soon but the computer is a bit busy transferring photos at the moment. I may or may not have chosen the fastest way to do it but I dont want to stop it now. It is only about an hour left... zzz...

I forgot to tell all about the birthday presents I got, one of them might mean the end of this blog...

...and a restart at www.emmabrandtphotography.com! Stephen bought me a domain name for me to build my own photography website!! It is a bit scary to think of getting serious with photography, at least as a job on the side. Who knows, I guess we will see what happens.

I got a new homephone, one like this. Not cordless by the way. A new version of an old classic.

I also got a very nice necklace with matching earrings from grandma, grandpa, Kerstin with family and Johan and Jill with family. A nice bowl for lollies etc from the girls I grew up with. Mum and dad gave me (us) a subscription for the local newspaper. I also got some money towards the bike I bought some months ago =) And Marie and the Älmhult girls are taking me to a day spa later on this autumn. And Ellen had picked out a really nice toy for me, first I thought Uncle Johan and Jill was hinting to something else but apparently Ellen was the one, I thought she was to young to be interested in more babies in the family =) I hope I remembered everything. Nope, I was about to forget the weekend in Jönköping with Nina and Daniel! And a voucher from Mums brother and his family for some jewellery. And I will go and buy myself something from my Jeff and Pauline and Greg and Krystel and Mama Lea. Maybe I will add it to the jewellery voucher and buy something really nice. And I also got some nice flowers from Lynda. And the cook book from Aunt Kerstin. Thank you again everyone!

Surprise surprise, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

You probably knew all about it already =) Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes!! And the gifts. Ant thanks to the organisers, I had a great night! I am lucky to have such great friends and family on both sides of the planet!

There will be a lot of photos tonight from the party, but as it is my birthday today I am allowed to make it easy for me and not write all that much =)

Btw, if anyone is on a photo and would prefer to not be, please let me know! And thanks to Marie for helping out taking photos!

Just some more autumn colours on an angle this time!

New IKEA showroom

IKEA has opened up an unofficial showroom at Linnegatan 9 in Älmhult, a 2-bedroom apartment on the groundfloor =)

We went to IKEA yesterday and bought a new dining table and a sideboard for the kitchen, and it looks really good now I think. And it is great to have a full size dining table! Not that we have heaps and heaps of dinner parties but anyway. The photo might be on a slight angle but you will have to live with that!

You may or may not think it is a bit boring to just have IKEA furniture but at the moment I dont really care, it is so convenient to just pop over to the shop and get what we need, and to get it cheap. Ask me again in 5 years and I am probably sick of it but at the moment it doesnt really bother me to live in IKEA town, work at IKEA and have our place full of IKEA furniture. Maybe you should all start calling me IKEA =)
